Dr David Rice

David is a Senior Lecturer and Postgraduate Programme Leader in the Department of Physiotherapy at AUT where he teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in areas related to pain, biomechanics and exercise rehabilitation. David also has a part time position in the Chronic Pain Service at North Shore Hospital in Auckland. He is a former executive committee member of Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy New Zealand. David’s research focuses on the effects of pain on movement, exercise induced pain relief and the neurophysiological mechanisms and management of chronic pain conditions including osteoarthritis and chronic post-surgical pain. David has ongoing research collaborations in North America, Europe, Japan and Australia and he has far received more than $2 million of research funding from organisations such as the Health Research Council of New Zealand, Japan Science and Technology Agency and Australia New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
